Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 68 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.
We have gotten rain lately, but area waters are crystal clear. No significant rainfall over the past few days, just enough to keep things cool and fishing well.Hatches are sparse, but fish are still looking up to midges in the morning, terrestrials in the afternoon, and lighter colored mayflies in the evenings.
Smaller creeks are getting a hatch of caddis, and craneflies are popping off throughout the day.
Fish are holding in shin to thigh deep water, and the most effective technique is fishing a dry/dropper with a visible dry fly and tiny nymph dropper. Nymphs with a bit of movement (soft hackle, marabou etc) seem to be catching more fish.
Nothing much has changed, even the weather is fairly consistent with clouds and drizzle each day. Great fishing weather for June!
