Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 83 ℉, condition: Windy.
UPDATE 5:00 About an inch of rain fell this late afternoon. If we do not get any more tonight we should have clear tributaries by tomorrow morning and larger waters clearing up tomorrow afternoon.UPDATE 3:30 p.m. Looks like just a bit more than a quarter of an inch of rain in the past hour. Expect a bit of stain tonight that will quickly clear as long as we do not get a bunch of rain late tonight. This storm front should be out of the area quickly.
UPDATE 2:45 p.m. Currently raining outside. Should be a short storm with no major accumulation. We will keep you posted.
Cloudy and chance of rain, especially tonight. It does not look like it shold be enough to muddy up the streams again, especially as there are no major sediment deposits in the streams anymore. Overall water is in great shape, high and stained to clear area wide.
Look for fishing to be good in the morning and evening as it has been this August. We have had cream midges, blue winged olives, micro caddis, and a handful off small cream colored mayflies hatching when the sun is off the water.
During the day subsurface fishing with bead head nymphs and scuds has been good, and should be even better with the clouds today.
Due to the high water a few days ago terrestrial fishing is off, but should pick up again soon. Smaller terrestrials are working better than big hoppers, the exception being big foam patterns in black (crickets and cicadias).
