Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 59 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.

Great weather conditions today (except for the wind) and heading into the weekend.
Recent rains have put a stain on some of our larger waters, while most of the small streams are clear.  Stained water means less spooky fish.
We have also had a couple of cool nights (last night 50, tonight 45, Saturday 47) which will drop water temperature a couple of degrees and stimulate insect activity (including hatches) and fish activity.
Fishing has been best on scuds (see our blog post for one of the reasons) and other thick bodied nymphs.  Terrestrials are beginning to take fish again now that the rains have left the area.
Today and into the weekend look for olives to hatch in low light conditions.  On the Timber Coulee keep an eye out for tricos too.
