Driftless Area

Rating: 4, temperature: 68 ℉, condition: Windy.

Another cool night last night, and clouds with a chance of rain today should have the fishing steady and possibly bring out more blue winged olives.
Fishing has been strongest when the sun is off the water.  Sub surface scuds and blue winged olive nymphs (small, thin bodied, dark in color) are great and standard patterns such as prince nymphs and hare's ears are starting to pick fish up.
On the surface, beetles, ants, and crickets are doing great.  In the afternoon and sometimes stretching into the evenings (especially on the smaller streams) we have found blue winged olive hatches.  They are not predictable yet, but there is always a good chance you will see them in addition to midges and a handful of caddis.
