Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 55 ℉, condition: Cloudy.

Very fishy, and very pleasant day today.
With the sunny conditions fish are feeding longer and bugs are hatching for a bit longer through the day.
Midges and winter stones are still on the surface around lunch time, and we have seen some slate winged dun mayflies (size 16 BWO pattern will work) as the water temperature climbs above 45 at the peak of the day on some waters.
Scuds and caddis larvae are working very well sub surface, as are midge larvae and small lightly weighted nymphs fished in the surface film.
Leeches and streamers are picking up some nice fish as they become more aggressive with warming water.
