Driftless Area
Rating: 5, temperature: 69 ℉, condition: Cloudy.
The cooler weather has settled in and fishing has taken off. Mornings are seeing nice midge hatches and fish being caught sub surface on scuds, midge larvae, and tiny bead head nymphs. Twitching the fly every once in a while has been deadly with trout responding very well to the swimming motion of a twitched nymph.Mid-day terrestrials are still the way to go, especially with a nymph tied on underneath.
Later in the afternoon the olives have started to come off earlier with hatches as early as 4 p.m. A drastic change from the last hour of the day!
